I was always wondering this. I am currently about to switch phones and went and checked some at my local retailer. I instinctively tried out other phones as well on display, and I was shocked that it's 2026 and some phones are actually still lagging in demo mode.
I have experienced this in the past, but I was obviously always buying devices that did not lag at the time, and lagging was always an absolute red flag for me. I'm wondering who even buys these phones that lag when they're supposed to be in their most pure, most attractive state?
Like, I imagine someone's old device is very laggy. They go to the retailer, and they use a slightly less laggy phone, and they think it's an upgrade? Don't they get surprised when they pick up a flagship that's working smoothly and say: How did I live like this until now?
