Looking at the sunrise and sunset times near the arctic circle, I noticed the amount of daylight gained and lost per day fluctuates slightly. I would expect a more uniform gain-plateau-loss graph, however there is a slight decrease in the amount gained and lost around the equinoxes.
Specifically in the spring, it increases up to 6:49 gained per day, then drops to 6;43 gained per day, then rises again to 7:01 per day before slowing down for the summer solstice.
What would be the likely cause of this oscillation on top of the yearly rise and fall?
