The rods on my 3018 max were 11.9mm instead of 12, and because of that it had a 3-4 mm play on z axis.

As a temporary solution tried to fit a 10mm rod from my 3d printer that I converted to rails.

Printed a small adapter, tapped 2 existing holes on the gantry and bolted it on. There is still a bit of movement but it helped a lot to reduce it.

Eventually will convert to rails, will try to cnc the adapters from aluminum.
