Did I screw myself over?

II’m a senior about to graduate with my B.S. in Counseling & Psychological Sciences. I got accepted into Florida State University’s MSW/MPA program and was planning to start Fall 2027 so I can move first and qualify for in-state tuition.

Now I’m second guessing…did I mess up choosing Florida? From what I’ve read, it’s not the best state for social workers in terms of pay/opportunities, and I’d probably end up moving after finishing the program anyway.

Would it make more sense to apply to programs in other states and spend my gap year establishing residency there instead? Or is it not that deep and I should just stick with FSU and plan to relocate after grad school?

Looking to move post grad!

I’m from AZ about to graduate from ASU in May! I was accepted into FSU for my masters, but I’m going to take a gap year so I can get in-state tuition starting fall 2027. With that said, I’m thinking of taking my gap year in St. Pete’s!

Can I get some insight into neighborhoods or areas I should look into? I’m a bit nervous because isn’t St. Pete a bit more pricey than other areas? I was considering Tampa, but that thread said I’d like St. Pete’s more since I like the farmers markets, coffee shops, concerts and outdoors kinda vibe. Also, I’m a server and bartender so would like to work in a very busy area! Also desire to be close to the beach.

Am I asking for too much? lol don’t be afraid to burst my bubble but still be kind :)

New to Tampa!

Hey guys! I’m 21F m*ving from AZ to Tampa post undergrad to take my gap year before attending FSU fall 2027.

I’m super excited! I love going to farmers markets, music festivals, shopping small businesses, book stores, coffee shops, and being outdoors! Currently looking for places, any specific areas you recommend? Besides that, anything I should know?

Hoping to get a job at a bar, so maybe downtown is my best bet or near one of the colleges? Any insight is helpful!

*posting in this thread bc not looking for specific housing just general insight into Tampa living!
