Something is odd why Does Everything Feel 2x to 3x More Expensive in Hyderabad?

Something feels odd, not in a adverse way though. I came back to my hometown and noticed property prices are still quite normal and affordable compared where everything is in CR for flat still afford normal house with land under lakhs. But the biggest difference is food prices.

Yesterday we went to a good restaurant with a nice vibe. For 5 people we ordered paneer tikka, kadai paneer, 15 tandoori rotis, dal fry, 2 papads, and water bottles. Total bill including GST and tip was only ₹1100.

In Hyderabad, paneer tikka alone can cost ₹300 to ₹500. Ordering the same full meal there would easily cost 2x to 3x more.

Even small things are much cheaper here. Chai is still ₹10, samosa and vada are around ₹12 to ₹15, and 2 idlis with sambar and chutney cost just ₹30.

And this is not only my hometown. During my road trip from Telangana to Maharashtra to Madhya Pradesh, I noticed similar pricing in many places. Overall, Hyderabad feels 2x to 3x is more expensive for everyday food.

Even daily grocery prices are cheaper here. Sometimes the same branded products are sold at lower MRP in local shops compared to Hyderabad, which feels strange. Vegetables and other daily-use items are also noticeably cheaper.
