I am new to the kitten ears plant and absolutely love it. It has new growth at the top but some of the leaves near the base are turning brown. I water every 1.5-2 weeks. Is that too much? Is there something else wrong?

It sits in a room that has a sky light and doesn't get directly hit with light, but the room is bright due to that.
