My first MOC - Lego Cypress Gardens ski show
Legoland Florida was built on the site of Cypress Gardens, Florida's first theme park that was famous for its spectacular waterski shows. Legoland continued the tradition (kind of) with its Pirate Stunt School show until that was discontinued in 2025. Cypress Gardens and waterskiing was a HUGE part of my life growing up, so I figured a Lego MOC of a Cypress Gardens ski show would be a fitting tribute!
We have the "Aquamaids" with their flags, the "Rampmasters" flying through the air, "Banana" George Blair barefoot skiing, and Corky the Clown in his dinghy, all parts of the original ski show over the years.
It's a combination of what I could find at the local Lego store, some stuff bought through BrickLink, and some from Lego's Pick A Brick store (before tariffs screwed everything up.)
The boats are minifig scale Mastercraft ProStar 190's with some custom stickers a friend of mine made for me. The ski boats are kit bashed from the Island Xtreme Stunts Wake Rider set (6737).
I struggled with a way to secure the skis to the base plate since there's no hole on the bottom of the skis. So I ended up making an L piece to secure the minifig's legs to the plate. I think it worked out ok.
I'm still working on the water. I'm not super happy with how the boat wakes came out. I think it needs more contrast, probably with white pieces instead of light blue... I'd also like to add more trees to the plate to get some more height and since the ski lake was surrounded by cypress trees. I need to hide the plate joints somehow too.
Overall I'm happy with the way it came out and it's really meaningful to me!
