Mincemeat question

Last night, I saw Mincemeat with the new cast (I saw the original cast a while back). I really enjoyed the new actors!

One tiny question about what I think was an oversight. Is Montague supposed to be married? He’s such a cad that it seemed like he could be carousing with Jean and others even if he were. The reason I ask is that the actor was wearing a very bright gold wedding band that reflected the light. I noticed it because of the way the light bounced off. In the very last scene, the actor removed the ring and put it in her pocket. I thought that either 1) she realized she’d forgotten to take it off or 2) it was some very subtle plot point I missed? I’m 99% sure it’s the former, but if it’s the latter, please explain!

Overall, this cast brings energy and fun and I adored my second “Operation.”

I watched a lot of last week’s testimony over the weekend, and I have a few takeaways I haven’t seen posted here. Forgive me if I missed them in other posts.

  1. Richard said clearly that the camp would not open if they didn’t get the license, but then Britt broke in and seemed to contradict him? (I am aware the Eastlands have now said they are not opening this summer, but this was a day or so before that.) Does it sound to anyone else like the family had not come to agreement about this?

  2. At one point, Richard says he didn’t even know it was flooding. Wasn’t he in the flats (supposedly)? My understanding is that no one actually knows where he was, but at another point one of the committee members says something about Richard being at camp but not helping? If Richard was in the flats, how is it possible he didn’t know it was flooding?

  3. It has been discussed over and over again (very importantly) that the Eastlands didn’t follow the only “plan” they had - to use the PA system. That is incredibly difficult to understand. They have admitted that they didn’t try (absolutely inexcusable), but could they have used it if the electricity was out? And I am assuming that a rural location has lots of power outages - is there something to be said for not having a backup system at the time (I know they have now bought generators).

  4. Does anyone know the family dynamics here between the brothers? It seems from their interactions that they treat Richard very differently. I know he dropped out of UT to go to culinary school (nothing wrong with that; I’ve just heard he isn’t academically oriented), but I’m wondering whether the family knows something else about what happened that night - some bad reason Richard wasn’t available to help - and are basically shunning him. or do they just think he’s inferior to them?

  5. I’ve watched about half of the Eastlands’ panel testimony on Day 2 of the hearings. It may come up after (I’ll watch), but so far no committee member has asked why no camp director called 911 until after 7:00 a.m. This seems to me to be a critical part of what went wrong, or at least a failure to do the immediate and obvious. I know that cell service is very bad there, but wouldn’t their phones show they didn’t even try?

I appreciate your thoughts and comments.

I am headed to London the second week of May. I have Paddington tickets and am considering the following for other shows. Any thoughts for me? And if you have tickets you can’t use to any of these, please let me know!

Inter Alia

Operation Mincemeat (I saw in on Broadway with OLC but my daughter hasn’t seen it)

Totoro

Devil Wears Prada

My favorite recent shows are:

Benjamin Button

Thanks for your thoughts!

I really, really want to see War Horse at the National Theatre but have to leave London the morning it opens. Does anyone know of there is such as thing as a preview or invited dress that wouldn’t show up on the regular ticketing site? I’m crushed that I am missing it by a hair.
