New frog owner here. I expanded a block of EcoEarth a little over a week ago and put it into my frogs first enclosure. It said to wring it out for “certain species” and I figured frogs didn’t fall under that since they like it humid, but it’s been too humid.
The humidity has been all the way up to 99%, but usually sits around 80-90%. I’ve propped open the lid and feeding hatch and put his lamp on to try and dry things out, but it’ll always get better and then once I turn the lamp off cause it’s getting too warm in there the humidity just goes right back up. I found a little fuzzy mold spot today (pictured) and picked it out, but I wanna fix this problem long term. (Btw he’s just a baby so he’s in a smaller enclosure right now but we’re very aware he’ll need an upgrade within the year.)
Is this being caused by the wet substrate? Do I need to expand the EcoEarth and then give it some time to dry out?
