I'm having a hard time understanding why someone would come up with what sounds like a fantastic ideal that would allow you to show your mobile device screen content on a larger screen but then make it so it's only possible if that larger screen has its own Internet connection to accomplish the task.

When 99% of people who would consider using this would only be thinking of using it because they have no other way to get that content on that screen in the first place. Meaning the tv has no internet connection and no possible way to show Internet content on it,

So to me, this type of mirroring is absolutely pointless if I have to have my TV connected to the web, why not just use a computer and connect it my tv if have to pay for the service anyway, why would I want to use my phones data and my Internet data by a router and fuck with connections and more shit just to do what's there already, or why not transfer files to my computer to see it?

I can see if the dev who came up with the idea based it on the fact that the TV has no internet connection and the user has no computer with home internet service and was using their phones HOTSPOT connection as the way to pull this off, they'd really have a useful idea that most everyone would be grateful for and it would be used very often. By not considering this one and only use that so many seem to think is the only use for this idea it makes me wonder exactly why they missed the most important use?

Since HOTSPOT is basically mobile WiFi, what is the difference between the WiFi sources that the idea is using? By not allowing the HOTSPOT to act as the Wi-Fi connection that the TV and the device are both connected through it simply makes no sense to even consider using it for anything.

I'll bet that 99% of people that want to use mirror thought that it was able to mirror the screen of their phones to a TV directly, and why would they not think that? It makes little sense to want to use it for anything else! Once you find out that you need home Internet service to do this "mobile casting" it becomes a useless feature that will just be using data on your phone device plus data on another service to do what you can do by only using the one service. If I want to see pictures on my tv. I'll just transfer to my computer and then use it to see them for free, no need at all to ever need any connection to the web to do it!

Is mirror just a scam to try and intercept user content and be able to track where they are and what they're seeing? I can't think of any other reason to set up a useless and costly idea, it offers the convenience of a medical operation and added cost to do it while degrading the picture and hasdje of trying to even get it to work properly when there's other more practical , easier and better quality ways to do it.

So why is the mirroring not set up to use hotspot as everyone has been mislead to believe? I know I'm not the only one who's thinking this, but I'm sure there's some ridiculous explanation that goes into all kinds of technical words that won't be effective on the actual reason for completely missing the intended use of this idea that's been touted as a great option for so many years. It's been part of the most misleadung advertising I've ever seen for any devices since it's inception, and it's no wonder why it has never caught on and only created pissed off customers who even if they have the needed parts to do it, find out they are never using it no matter what.

Wouldn't it make sense to make another version that's based solely on hotspot connections and become a millionaire over night or is there something I'm not knowing about harvesting user data that would be bypassed and not enrich sine big entity. I'm sure there were others made using that idea but were bought out to stop them since they would not be able to collect user data and burn up twice the data in the process,

What good is it to offer useless programs that pretend to offer a very good idea until it's implemented and only then do users find out they've been lied to or at least not fully aware of the idiocy of the implmentation and requirements needed to do it. Anyone who has any cimmin sense can see why mirroring is not a good idea or has any practical use.

Like the title says, I have 2 1-year old TVs that I have been able to screen cast from my TCL tablet to each TV separately only once and cannot make it happen ever again. The only way my TVs can connect to the web is through my phones hotspot so I e done this without the need for any extra devices like a router. So I know it's possible since I've seen it.

What's strange is I can watch anything on my tablets screen but if I press any buttons on my remote by accident, the casting stops and I couldn't get it working again. I heard sound but it was low and when I picked up the remote to make it louder it lost the casting. Both times I was only using it for maybe 2 minutes before I lost the connection through touching the remote.

The way I did it on both occasions was just by entering the settings on my tablet and clicking cast turned on cast and I saw my 75" kcl tv listed and clicked on it and to my surprise it was working, opened web page and it was on the TV without doing anything more.

Reconnecting was futile, turning both off and back on did nothing, all it does is show my tvs and if I try to connect to either one it just times out trying to make a connection. If I have my tablets hot spot turned on so the tv has internet access and I click cast, I see the icon on the top right of the screen and it has a box the appears asking if I want to turn off my hot spot to activate WiFi, I click that and nothing happens because there's no wifi available for the 2 devices to connect to.

When it fud connect, it never sfked me to do anything, it just connected right away, it caught me off guard both times since I've tried it hundreds of times without any success. The only thing I can imagine is somehow there was an available Wi-Fi network that they both connected to? Sounds implausible to me since my phone is set to data constantly and not to search for Wi-Fi unless I choose it. No auto Wi-Fi, the tv is not showing it's connected to the internet while it was casting, as soon as it lost the connection, I saw it said not connected (to the internet) in the right hand uooer cjrnef as it always says when my hit spot is off. So it's not using hot spot to cast, the chance both my tablet and tv are instantly connecting to sn unknown Wi-Fi source seems very slim since I've looked through the available wifi connections on both devices and see nothing that would connect without a password listed.

I thought that both devices are made by TCL that this would be a simple and reliable way to do this but I can't even repeat it a second time and attribute that to very poorly designed software. Since I immediately see both my tvs listed + a 3rd TV that's probably not mine shows up with a slightly different name, I have tried to connect and it fails the same way as the others.l

So how can I be connecting my tablet without them both on the same Wi-Fi and why is that even needed in the first place when I certain I've done this without it? Why isn't the tablets hot spot considered a binding web connection just like Wi-Fi since it's just Wi-Fi that's connecting with devices through a common connection using the IP addresses if those devices,

How exactly is hot spot not Wi-Fi if it's doing the exact same thing only doing it from a hand held device and not through a separate router? Basically a router died the same thing when it's wirelessly connecting devices through it or is there something more. I also see an option to use Bluetooth as an Internet sharing potion and Ethernet as another web connection option in my tablet but have never seen any way to use them.

I noticed my tablet has no Wi-Fi direct option that's available on my phones, I've never been able to get that working either so most things offered are just that they're offered but I see no use for them or any purpose to have all these other unusable options when there's much more reliable and simple ways to connect through my tablet.i use USB to connect my computer to the web and transfer files between the 2 and hotspot for tvs. So what are there other options that I've never been able to use still in every android version. My tablet uses a 5g SIM but can't place phone calls like my 4g $60 tablet can, I can receive texts it in,y through the notifications and only reply back to the last notification using the reply box offered in that notification ? What's going on with my tablet? Why can't I access the messages text app?

Time to start using my old 4g no name tablet again, it's way better, but it's heavy and it has a terrible keypad that's worse than this one, both get confused when I type too fast and this one will show a shift keyed option that pops up for no reason and I'll have to backspace to continue and backsiacing sometimes ends up getting stuck and erases lines if text quickly if not stopped, basically a good screen idea attached to a poorly functioning limited operationsl device. Maybe that goes for all TCL devices?
