I’ve got a disability in my left hand that makes clicking L3/R3 difficult and painful, especially as I’ve gotten older. I’ve managed to game most of my life anyway, but Crimson Desert finally pushed me over the edge. It got to the point where it was either stop playing or find a controller setup that actually worked for my hands.
I thought I finally found it with the Vader 5.
The ergonomics and customization on this controller are honestly incredible for my accessibility. I mapped L3/R3 to the extra shoulder buttons, which is a bit of a reach but WAY easier on my hands. Extra face buttons are handling dodge/jump combos, and the bottom buttons are mapped to map/screenshot functions. For the first time in years I felt like I could play comfortably again instead of fighting my controller.
Problem is… it randomly disconnects.
Some nights it works flawlessly for hours. Other nights it disconnects every few minutes. I pause the game, I have to reconnect/restart the controller, then it works again for a bit before happening all over.
I’m on PC. I’ve already:
- Disabled Steam Input
- Closed conflicting controller software
- Updated firmware/software
- Tried just plugging it via USB, no wireless
- Restarted/repaired devices repeatedly
- Returned and replaced the controller
I’m posting because I REALLY want to make this work. Accessibility-wise this setup has been a game changer for me.
Has anyone dealt with random disconnects like this on PC? Especially with remappable/controllers with extra buttons? Any software/settings I should check before I give up and return it?
