I needed to access some old, old files at work off a USB drive that had been around for years and years, but when I plugged it into my work laptop (a crappy business Dell) the drive would open, freeze, then close. It did this on every computer we tried.
Everyone at work was stumped, so I went home for lunch and brought my T440p running Linux Mint to see if it was a windows issue. My coworkers were stunned. "Ew!" "Gross!" "Why is it so thick??" They all gawked at the thinkpad, but I paid them no mind and slammed the USB drive home.
It opened immediately with no issues. I was able to save the files and copy them to a new drive. I'm trying to convert them all to Linux now. They still think my laptop is ugly, but they have no choice but to respect it.
