never stepped in a gym before but i want my best body in my 20s

hi, i’m a 19 y/o female, around 5’1 in height and i weigh somewhere between 50-52 kgs depending on the day because my weight fluctuates.
i’ve never stepped into a gym before and i’ve honestly never been consistent with any sort of workout either, but recently i’ve started feeling like i’m gaining a little weight and since my 20th birthday is coming up soon, i really want to get fit and feel more confident in myself. i know “skinny” might sound bad to say but i mostly just mean healthier, toned and more in shape.
the problem is i have absolutely no idea where to start 😭 should i join a gym as a complete beginner or should i start at home first? would walking daily help? or yoga, zumba, pilates, beginner workouts, etc? i’d really appreciate advice from people who started from zero because i genuinely know nothing about fitness.
also for food, can someone explain calorie deficit to me in the simplest way possible? what foods should i actually be eating, what should i avoid, and how hard is it to lose weight and maintain it long term without becoming miserable 😭
and lastly please recommend good youtube channels or fitness influencers that are beginner friendly and realistic because most fitness content online either scares me or feels impossible to follow lol
