Built a Homey app for Kenwood, Roberts, Sharp, and other UNDOK-compatible radios
Hi everyone,
I’ve built a Homey app for a vast amount of internet radios. Any internet radio based on the Frontier Silicon chipset that is compatible with the UNDOK or OKTIV app is supported. This includes radios from brands such as Kenwood, Roberts, Sharp, Blaupunkt, Hama, Medion, Revo, Ruark, and many others.
The app connects your radio directly to Homey over your local network — no cloud required.
App features:
- Automatic discovery of radios on your local network
- Control multiple radios independently
- Turn on/off, select source, select preset
- Volume control (set, up, down, mute, unmute)
- Playback control (play, pause, next track, previous track)
- Now playing information: source, station name, song, and artist

My own use case
Both of my children have a Kenwood M-7000-S radio in their room. Previously, a fixed alarm time was configured on those radios. On school days, Homey gradually turns on the lights and, at the set alarm time, the radio starts playing.
Homey "knows" whether it is a school day by using other apps and therefore skips turning on the lights on non-school days. However, the radios kept waking the children up because I forgot to disable the alarms on non-school days.
The radios could already be controlled using the UNDOK and OKTIV app (Android and iOS). After reading through some documentation, I built a simple script that I used for a couple of weeks. Over the past few days, I couldn’t resist building a proper Homey app, which is now live in the Homey App Store.
Homey now starts the radios only on school days. As a result, the children are no longer woken up by the radios on non-school days. Happy wife, happy life.
