I’ve been teaching English on Preply for about 2 months now, and I’m a bit confused about what’s happening with my profile.

In the beginning, things were going really well. I’ve completed 150+ lessons so far, I have 6 active students (all started at $5), and I’ve received 6 reviews, all 5 stars.

My trial subscription rate is around 70%, so I don’t think conversion is the issue.

However, as soon as I increased my price to $10, my visibility dropped significantly.

Before that, I was getting consistent profile views and trial requests. Now I’m getting around 50 profile views a week (sometimes less), and my position in the search results has gone way down.

What confuses me is that it feels like once you start proving you can teach, get good reviews, and convert students…the platform should show your profile more, not less.

I’m about to get my Super Tutor badge in a few days, also I’ve prepared a new intro video and a new profile picture, so I’m hoping that gives me a bit of a boost.

But my main question is, Should I drop my price back down ($5–$6) to regain visibility, or just wait and see if the algorithm picks me up again?

I would really appreciate hearing from tutors who’ve been through this, is this a normal dip or something else?
