Declaring gift after mortgage approved

On Monday we had our mortgage approved after the lender valued the house so we’ve started doing solicitors forms.

The house is £325k, we are putting down £32.5k 10% and in November 2024 (so 18 months ago) my partner received £3k (to a current account that was then put into his LISA) from a grandparent which we didn’t declare on the mortgage application. Very naive on our part however we assumed “gifts” were more substantial sums a lot closer to the time of purchase however the solicitors have said it’s a gift and should have been declared to the lender on application.

Is this likely to screw up our already approved mortgage at all or just cause a tiny bit of admin?

Obvious answer is of course ask our mortgage advisor but they are off this afternoon so would appreciate Reddit (hopefully) putting our minds at ease until tomorrow morning!

FTB here - has anyone ever experienced a situation whereby the conveyancing solicitors are only able to use one government bonus component towards the deposit when buying as a couple with two separate LISAs?

For example:

LISA 1 - £20k (£16k + £4k govt bonus)

LISA 2 - £10k (£8k + £2k govt bonus)

= £30k but only £28k can be used for the deposit as LISA 2’s govt bonus “doesn’t count”

Our mortgage advisor has said she saw this situation recently with one particular solicitors.

We are on the verge of instructing our solicitors however the individual we want to use is on leave until next Wednesday and her conveyancing assistant didn’t know the answer (i basically asked “can you confirm if we use you we would definitely be able to use the entire contents of both our of LISAs including both government bonuses”).

Ideally need to know next 24 hours as the sellers will want us to have instructed someone before the weekend - thanks if anyone can help.

With the local elections just over a week away, I was wondering how the politically clued up part of Sheffield Reddit are expecting things to go.

I saw two sites earlier that do ward by ward predictions and they came up with slightly different predictions - not sure what methodologies they use and of course they are more about national swing and don’t take into account local issues.

Crookes and Crosspool going Lib Dem, Labour, Green in one, but the reverse in the other (albeit on tight margins); one showing Reform taking 9 (including Darnall???) vs Labour’s 1, with the other showing Reform getting just 3 with Labour holding strong (by national mood standards anyway…) with 6. Greens set to make gains no matter what by the sounds of it.

I guess you tell a lot about posters in windows and gardens around the city - Driving round S10/11 it seems to be a real mix of Labour, Lib Dem and Green, not sure if Reform are visually as strong in some of the key areas they are targeting.

(not affiliating with any political party and not wanting this thread to fall into a “vote for X” type affair…)
