Simply for discussion’s sake, could we please discuss the plot of Blood Omen 1 as found within that game only, and in total isolation as if it is the only content in existence?
For the purposes of this thread: if it is not within the final product game of Blood Omen 1 it does not exist.
To be clear: I LOVE all the games, and the lore, and the retcons, but recently decided I want to know what BO 1 was before any retcons whatsoever. For example Mortanius‘s motivations make perfect sense with all the later games retcons. However in the original BO 1 the Hylden didn’t exist, nor did ancient vampire prophecy, etc.
So, assuming BO1 is all that exists, what on Earth was Mortanius trying to do? Seems he both caused the pillar’s corruption and wanted to fix it? Because he was possessed periodically and fighting that entity?
But was that ever actually stated in game? And if so, why does possessed him also say Kain was a pawn, which is how Mortanius saw him? Pawn for what? For Mortanius he was a pawn to heal the pillars, but how was he a pawn for the dark entity, and what was its goal? Is it just out for chaos? Or did it want to make the pillars fall, then kill Mortanius’s pawn and then rule Nosgoth?
