Daiwa Tatula Casting Reel: Help me understand "Zero Adjust"
I bought my first Daiwa casting reel with "zero adjust" (the Tatula X). The spool wants to spin freely on its own when engaged, causing overruns. What I mean by this is, if I engage the reel and my lure is stationary on a hard surface, rather than doing nothing as a traditional reel would with a properly set spool tension, it will spin if not held with the thumb - even though the lure is not moving at all. It reminds me of what happens when people get a spinning reel with a back reeling switch and they don't understand why the reel is spinning and causing a mess because the switch is flipped on. Are the Daiwa zero adjust reels supposed to do this or is my factory setting incorrect (I guess you're supposed to never touch the tension knob on these as they're allegedly perfectly set in the factory)? This issue causes frustration when I'm gearing up and I need the reel to be engaged to let line out.
