Can an 18 year old be forced into a KJP therapy program ?
Hello,
my question is:
When an 18 year old in Germany admitted themselves to a mental health professional who would then determine that the person needed urgent assistance (basically a closed ward), they would normally be send to an adult facility correct ?
I have heard that if the person has had previous treatment in a "Kinder Jugend Psychatry" (KJP) then they would be admitted back there, despite being legally an adult.
The person I am writing this for has been admitted to a Tagesklinik at age 16 ("freiwillig" as it was determined by their parents and not professionals), they did however only stay a week and then simply stopped attending altogether which got them kicked out, they lied about absolutely everything (the clinicians are not aware of that) regarding their condition as thet didn't actually want to be there and only attended due to their parents pressuring them into attendance. This means that the KJP program has basically next to no useful information (once again the clinicians are not aware of that and believe they have been telling nothing but the truth).
They claim the experience was anything but therapeutic and would prefer an adult facility.
Is it possible they get forced to a KJP clinic despite being absolutely against that ? (In a state of emergency (closed ward)) And claiming it would have negative consequences on their mental state.
