Speaker recommendations for live band with mostly outdoor shows
Hi, I’m looking to upgrade the speakers/overall sound for my band that plays rock, country, pop, etc. Our shows often have 300+ people outdoors. We currently use 2x 12 inch EV ZLX. Haven’t had any issues with them, but sometimes they’re not loud enough to be heard over the guitar amps and drums. We currently have nothing running to the PA besides vocals, but could be interested in running a snare and kick mic as well as guitar and bass.
I’m worried about getting subwoofers because they would be a pain to haul around. I personally don’t have an issue with the 12 inch speakers, but am worried that we couldn’t run guitar/drums through a 12 inch. Would getting a 15 inch be the best of both worlds? Currently looking into high end EVs or QSCs.
Budget is $2k for the speakers. Could increase to 3k if necessary
