My first probe for my first Mun landing in Career Mode!
Meet the MLP-1 (Mun Lander Probe Dash One) "Munlight Sparkle" which uses the OKTO as the core. Its mission is to land on the moon and transmit science back to ground control, which immediately completed two contracts in one go!
The problem is I haven't unlocked fairings so I had to cram all my electronics inside 2 service bays in the main body. This includes 4 OX-STAT Photovoltaic panels. Due to their static nature, and the fact that their placement is recessed into the probe, I decided to put the panels facing outwards, making sure to manually rotate the sides of the probe towards the sun.
It took a few tries but I finally landed on the Mun. I gathered science and transmitted the data back. Unfortunately, due to recessed placement of the photovoltaic panels, angle of the sun, as well as the service bay walls, it can no longer recharge using solar power. The panels have been completely blocked and covered in constant shadow. And the science transmission spent all of its remaining energy.
The probe is now dead on the Munar service.
RIP. 😢
