Everyone 30+ what does your friend situation look like?
I'm 32, and ngl, it's bleak. I know some people struggle with friendships even at a younger age, so I should feel lucky that I still have a core group of friends from middle school and high school—we also all went to the same college. But nobody lives in the same city anymore, so our friendship has mostly been relegated to group texts. It's not the same, even though we still care about each other. We probably just don't care as deeply as we did when we were younger, but if we all lived in the same area, I think we'd still see each other regularly. I'm single too, which doesn't help, even though I enjoy spending time alone more than some. I know the only real way out of this is to start going to hobby events on a regular basis. But having 20+ years of history with people makes me scared that any new friendships will feel really surface-level and I'm not used to things not feeling effortless.
