Hello!
I've used the Razer Tartarus/Orbweaver (on my 4th device, 2nd orbweaver) and its pretty clear they aren't renewing the Orbweaver, nor would I want to purchase another Razer device if I can help it. Every single one has eventually had misclick/double click issues over the years.
I've used these to play FF14 for about a decade now and am completely stuck with needing a DPad as a thumbstick. I've tried the Hori Tactical Assualt Commander, but the analog joystick ruins it for me, so I ended up returning it. I think any would, I am too used to the precision a D pad can give you.
I've looked at many vendors and most of the 'gaming' or ergonomically oriented keypads with a thumb cluster I've seen seem to have an analog joystick. I am open to trying a real WASD with keys in the thumb cluster but those are harder to find (Plenty of options with a couple keys but I would prefer at minimum 3 for left right and back (ASD), handling forward or W using other methods.
Something currently available that I'm willing to try is what ZSA has on offer (Moonlander/Ergodox EZ), however they seem to no longer sell just the left half of their keyboard and its definitely getting out of budget at that point for me. That style of thumb cluster is interesting enough to want to try using as a D pad, though I'm not certain it would be a perfect solution (which makes me extra hesitant at that price point).
The closest product to what I want is maybe the Killer Whale, again if only a single half were available, but this also appears to be out of stock?
The perfect product I would imagine though, is actually the Maxxstick, but with a DPad style thumbstick instead of an analog one. Then I could use just my keyboard which actually frees up space for me, and I like a standard keyboard layout anyway.
So, would anyone have a suggestion within the price range of <150USD? Or methods to customize something like a maxxstick to a 'dpad' like thumbstick? Thank you!
