On May 22, 2025, I opened a business checking account with Relay Financial (banking services provided by Thread Bank) via a promotional landing page (join.relayfi.com) offering a $300 sign-up bonus. The Terms & Conditions stated I needed to deposit $10,000 and maintain that balance for 90 consecutive calendar days.
I fulfilled all requirements. My $10,000 deposit cleared on May 22, 2025, and I maintained the balance well past the 90-day mark. According to their terms, the $300 bonus was to be deposited within 30 business days after meeting the hold time.
Relay failed to pay the bonus. When I contacted support on November 25, 2025, a representative verbally offered me $200 instead of $300, claiming "technical difficulties." I declined this bait-and-switch offer. I subsequently provided support with screenshots of the original offer and Terms & Conditions. After months of delays, Relay's support team is now requesting a non-existent "promotional code" to fulfill the offer, despite their own Terms & Conditions stating the offer is triggered via a landing page, not a code.
Relay Financial is engaging in Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP) by advertising a financial promotion, refusing to honor the completed contract, attempting a bait-and-switch payout, and using deceptive customer service tactics to stall resolution.
So I reported it to BBB and CFPB and hopefully is will get resolved... but from the looks of the posts on reddit I feel lucky that I removed the $10,000 from the account a few months ago - as I could have lost that as well.
