now this post was planned to be a LOT more negative, but after putting a couple more hours into the game i have found that the early game of WoW is a lot more forgiving that i first thought. now i'll start with what i like about the game, what i dont like about the game, and my questions to the community at the end
POSITIVES:
-gameplay is fun, very fun i may add, i'll talk about my impressions of the tiers in the game later but i enjoy the core loop of the game and how well the warships feel and play.
-game looks pretty good, textures seem crisp and the maps look pretty good for being a ship game
-early game is pretty speedy, i have almost 10 hours in the game and i'm already almost to tier 5
NEGATIVES:
-i play on the steam version of the game (BIG MISTAKE i know) and i almost deleted the game after how OBTUSE the steam version of WoW is. so i download the game (i live in a college dorm that's like a bunker so it took 6 hours for the game to install) and instead of clicking "log in" on the boot up screen, i just clicked my region and it gave me an account, now after this i remembered "oh wait i do have a wargaming account from like a decade ago lol" so i went to see if i could log in to that, but i found there's not "log out" button in any of the menus.
so i go to search up how to log out of WoW, and find out that on the steam version, there IS no way to log out on steam, even though the game BOMBARDS you about creating an account. i mean come on this is stupid, you cant blast me after almost every match to create an account when you wont let me log in to my existing one.
-game is HEAVILY MONITIZED, now i played world of tanks like a decade ago, thats where my wargaming account came from, so im no stranger to wargaming's monetization, but when i mid tier premium ship cost $50 find that to be a little absurd.
-i've heard that the WoW playerbase can be a little hostile, this is where my main reservation comes from, before i installed the game i wanted to watch modern gameplay of it and stumbled upon the youtuber Potato Quality, i liked his content and reviews so i decided to watch some of his streams/vods, and i find in every stream/vod this guy is FUCKING MISERABLE, is high tier that bad?? carriers and submarines do look really cancer, already not a fan of the torpedo detection range since low tier ships turn like a mountain. but god damn if it's really that bad every game do i even want to grind for top tier? should i stay in the tier 5-7 range is that where it's the most fun?
now my questions, which tiers are the most fun? which faction has the best/most fun ships? i am maining U.S.A battleships rn and plan to play only battleships until i get enough universal XP to fast track to mid tier cruisers, is high tier really that unfun? are carriers and subs really that cancer? i've played against carriers and it's annoying since normally they're the last ship alive and you gotta roam the edges of the map to find them. what's the progression look like for a F2P player?
