Hi! I’m hoping someone here can give me some advice about hiking in the Fagaras Mountains.

Me (31) and a friend (32) want to do a multi-day full/semi board cabin to cabin hiking trip in the Fagaras Mountains. I’ve done some research and found a possible itinerary. But having nog experience in Romania, I was hoping someone could give it a look and see if it makes any sense.

About our experience. We’re both from lower regions in Europe. We have experience (mainly) in the Swiss/Austrian Alps, but always in relatively good weather. We don’t have experience with alpinism or proper hikes through the snow. We’re intending to do this self guided, but some people have discouraged us doing unguided tours in Romania. We do have good (navigation) gear, but - again - nothing for alpinist hikes - no crampons for example.

* Turnu Rosu > Cabana Suru (17km, 1700m climb) [Cabana Suru]
* Suru > Cabana Negoiu (19,5 km, 1700m climb) [Cabana Negoiu]
* Rest day [Cabana Negoiu]
* Negoiu > Cabana Bâlea (12km, 1700m climb) [Cabana Bâlea]
* Bâlea > Cabana Podragu (10,6km, 1300m climb) [Cabana Podragu]
* Moldovenau peak from Podragu [Cabana Podragu] -> if weather permits
* Podragu > Victoria (16,5 km) In Victoria
