I recently thrifted what appears to be a near-complete copy of Portfolio Number V: The Indians of Canada, published by Imperial Oil Limited around the early 1950s and illustrated by C. W. Jefferys.
The set includes:
-Original folder/portfolio cover
-Illustrated instructional plates
-Accompanying teaching/text pages and units
From my research, this was part of a Canadian school educational series distributed to teachers and classrooms, and I believe it may be connected to the National Museum of Canada and educational work by Diamond Jenness.
The condition is very good considering its age, and it appears largely complete, though I am still verifying against known contents.
I’m trying to understand:
-How rare is a complete or near-complete set of -Portfolio V specifically?
-Do these appear in private collections often or mostly in archives?
Any idea of approximate value or collector interest?
I can provide more photos of the contents if helpful.
