People Behind the “Self-Insert” Rumor Ordered to Pay 430k RMB
Recently, miHoYo sued online bloggers Xu Moupeng (online alias “自由人米八”) and Luo Moujie (aliases including “Joker,” “内幕哥,” and “不锈钢脸盆爱好者”). The commercial defamation case has now reached a final judgment.
Previously, the two used insulting and inflammatory language during livestreams, maliciously fabricating and widely spreading “self-insert” rumors claiming that multiple miHoYo characters were based on or intended as self-inserts for company employees. According to the ruling, these claims damaged the emotional connection between players and the characters, triggered large-scale harassment and personal attacks against both miHoYo employees and players, and caused ongoing harm to the game community environment.
The court ultimately determined that the actions of the two individuals constituted commercial defamation, ordering them to jointly pay 430,000 RMB in damages and publicly issue statements to mitigate the negative impact caused.
