Hi everyone,
I’m currently on Night 10 of sleep training of my EBF, co-sleeping 6,5 month old (following the TCB program) and I’m a bit confused about our progress.
Day 1 till day 7 we saw progress overall, it took him less time to put himself to sleep during bedtime and night wakings were 0-2.
The confusing part:
Nights 5–7 were pretty good (fell asleep during bedtime within 15 min, 1–2 wakings, manageable)
But Nights 8–10 suddenly got much worse:
- Night 8: 3–4 wakings
- Night 9: 6+ wakings and lots of crying
- Night 10: currently on night 10 and he needed 3 pop-ins during bedtime (the first time we needed 3 pop-ins) ...
My questions:
- Is it normal to see this kind of regression around Night 8–10?
- Does this sound more like a schedule issue (too much daytime sleep, wake window issues?, overtired/undertired?) vs sleep training not “working”?
- How strict should I be with capping naps (especially the long midday one)?
- Any tips for early morning wakes (5–6am range), because it kind of messes up the nap schedule?
This is our ST log:
| Night | Put in Crib → Asleep | Time to fall asleep | Check-ins during bedtime | Night wakings |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Night 1 | 19:00 → 19:45 | 45 min | 1 | 2 |
| Night 2 | 19:00 → 19:37 | 37 min | 2 | 1 (early rise) |
| Night 3 | 19:20 → 20:00 | 40 min | 2 | 1 |
| Night 4 | 18:53 → 19:16 | 23 min | 2 | 2 |
| Night 5 | 19:28 → 19:45 | 13 min | 1 | 2 |
| Night 6 | 18:58 → 19:10 | 12 min | 1 | 2 |
| Night 7 | 19:17 → 19:26 | 9 min | 0 | 1 (early rise) |
| Night 8 | 19:53 → 20:28 | 35 min | 2 | 3–4 |
| Night 9 | 19:33 → 20:09 | 36 min | 2 | 6+ |
| Night 10 | 18:35 —> 19:20 | 45 min | 3 | ? = tonight |
Would really appreciate hearing if others went through something similar 🙏 I'm getting really worried if I'm doing the right thing here...
