Best rainwear (cover) pack and self package.

What works for you? I’ve seen that rven with packs that have rain covers water flows between your coat and your pack soaking your straps. I bought a belted poncho and also have multiple jackets already but need pants. It almost seems that the cheaper, rubber coated stuff works best but it doesn’t breathe at all. I also have the six moons umbrella but the Patagonia winds would say “hold my beer” lol. How do you say (mostly) dry and keep your gear dry? I used a compactor bag in my pack for Grand Canyon but when I was there it never rained.

Best shoes or boots for trekking

I’m asking this because hiking boots are not very easy for me I’ve yet to find any that don’t weight my feet down and feel super clunky. I wear “TOPO” trail runners have been getting the same exact ones and hiking in them for ages. I see that there are lots of uneven rocks, okay same here especially in PA on the Appalachian. NO shoes stay dry in pouring rain or stepping in deep puddles. I’m thinking about just bringing two pair of my same shoes and extra socks. What works for you?

Shared dorms in Grey and Paine Grande in TdP.

Has anyone had prior experience using the dorms? How did you find them? Is there a way to make sure I can get a bottom bunk if I have a medical issue? Is it possible to change last minute if the fully equipped camping options are available? Are there plugs to charge your phone next to the beds? Should I be concerned about theft while sleeping in there? Any advice will be appreciated

Trekking the W next March need advice with staying in shared dorms

I have a medical issue that causes me to pee all hours of the night and also when I have my coffee in the am. It’s embarrassing to ask for help but I since I’m booked in Grey dorm and also Paine Grande dorms my first two nights I’m a bit concerned. I’m also a light sleeper and have issues even sleeping in my own comfy bed with room darkening curtains. What can help me with this? What do others do when sharing space like this with strangers. At home I listen to YouTube all night off and on there’s some great videos, sermons and also “boring histories for sleep”.
