TIL that Peter Jackson’s Digital Visual Effects Studio Wētā FX is named after the New Zealand Wētā, a native species of giant flightless cricket. Wētā FX even created a giant Wētā, the Wētā-Rex, for Jackson’s King Kong (2005).
