Not sure what I’m looking for here other than solidarity from a group that understands. I have an 18M old who is still nursing, not as much as they used to but still throughout the night (waking me up more than I would like to admit) and a few times during the day. I’ve been pumping about 2-3 times a day too (morning, mid-day during nap) and in the evening after bedtime. I am an oversupplier and pretty much have to or I would be super engorged. Also, my 3 year old is still drinking my milk and it’s their “favorite treat” so didn’t want to take it away from them either. Anyway, I had mastitis once early (maybe 2 weeks postpartum) on and got antibiotics and did them and all good. Then for the last two months or so I’ve been noticing nipple pain on one side and chalked it up to a bunch of teeth coming in. Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago and pain on that nipple begins feeling unbearable when I nurse especially and when I pump. I ignore again because I’m tough and think oh it’s just the teeth. Then it swells up and the dreaded red stripes. I knew what that meant so off to the urgent care I went and got a male doctor who has no idea about my condition and puts it into the computer and pops out an antibiotic. Off I go and take that in its entirety and feels better initially. Two days later, starts to hurt again and I just wait it out. Ice, ibuprofen, move the milk, etc. No extreme fever and didn’t feel THAT bad. Then today, red stripes again. I should note, I recently moved states and don’t have an OB or GP so I make an emergency ICBLC appointment thinking surely she can help me. I’ve determined at this point that I likely have a milk bleb. She couldn’t help me and didn’t know anyone that could and they couldn’t prescribe antibiotics at that facility. So now we scrambled and found a GP that had a last minute cancellation that could see my tomorrow and told me they have doctors experienced in women’s health. So now I’m just crossing my fingers my condition doesn’t worsen over night and I can make it to my appointment tomorrow afternoon. It’s frustrating that it seems no one can provide me the support that I need. Other than going to the ER and footing a huge bill, I don’t know who can help me. The urgent care said if the antibiotics don’t work that I should call my OB but I don’t have one (my bad I know but generally healthy and no conditions and again just moved a few months ago). It’s on my list but as you know, the list of things for me gets under prioritized by the million of things we have to do to keep our kids alive and maintain my job. Former OB in another state said they can’t prescribe me medication because I’m outside the state. Thanks for reading and any words of encouragement or secret tricks that anyone has would be appreciated 🙏
