StoreSwitch — Chrome extension that checks if a nearby Walmart has the same item cheaper
I built StoreSwitch because I kept noticing that two Walmart stores half a mile apart had different prices on the same item. Same SKU, same week — Supercenter had a sale, Neighborhood Market across the street didn't.
What it does:
- On a Walmart product page, quietly checks nearby stores in the background and shows the lowest price within reach.
- On your cart, compares the full cart against nearby stores and shows what you'd save by switching pickup.
- One click switches the cart's pickup store. Cart contents stay the same — uses Walmart's own pickup mechanism.
What it doesn't do: open hidden tabs, run analytics, load remote code, work on any site other than walmart.com. No signup, no affiliate links. US Walmart only.
Real example from my data: Fresh Cauliflower (item 10402652) at 4 Walmarts within 3 miles in my town $2.99 at one Supercenter, $3.66 at three Neighborhood Markets. 22% delta on stores 0.5 mi apart.
Open to feedback. v1 is single-retailer to get the cart-savings UX right before expanding.
