I had something a bit strange this morning right after waking up and I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

When my mouth was almost closed, I noticed a continuous muscle-like tremor or vibration somewhere around the ear / back of the jaw (maybe soft palate or deep ear area). It produced a low-frequency sound or sensation, not really a clicking.

What was interesting:

• it stopped when I opened my mouth wider
• it felt like a very fast, continuous “tremor” (maybe ~10–100 Hz?)
• more like a low buzzing / rumbling than typical tensor tympani clicking

So I don’t think it’s classic tensor tympani, since it wasn’t intermittent or click-like. I also have bruxism and use a night guard, but this still happened anyway.

Has anyone experienced something like this?
