Would I be crazy to spend 20k on a trip to the galapagos?
I'm 24, currently making north of $300k, though my company has been doing frequent layoffs recently and there's a decent chance I get caught in one eventually. That said, I feel pretty confident I'd be able to land another role relatively quickly if it happened (Already interviewing at multiple places).
Current net worth is a bit above $300k.
I have a Rolex (Starbucks) that mostly just sits in a watch box these days and could probably sell it for around $13k. I also have a stock vest coming up worth about $12k post-tax.
I've been considering using those two things to fund a Galapagos trip with my girlfriend through Ecoventura:

Normally I'd immediately dump the stock into index funds, but lately I've been thinking more about the balance between maximizing long-term wealth vs actually using money for meaningful experiences while young.
Selling the watch honestly feels easy to justify since I barely use it anyway. The harder question is whether spending a meaningful chunk of this quarter's vest on the trip is irresponsible given the layoff environment, even if financially it wouldn't materially affect my long-term trajectory.
Curious how other people here think about this tradeoff.
