I've got a 2020 Bolt EV. I replaced the 12v battery 4 months ago with a battery from Costco. I live in a very hot climate, but it hasn't gotten hot enough to really cause any issues since I replaced the battery.
About a month ago, when I tried to start the car, I got a bunch of error messages and couldn't shift. The image actually has slightly fewer than the max I saw. Stabilitrack, transmission, side sensors, pedestrian sensors, etc.
I disconnected the negative terminal on the 12v for about an hour. That didn't fix it. I then jumped the battery, and it finally started.
Eight days ago, I had the same issue. Multiple errors, can't shift to drive, etc. I tried to jump it, but that didn't fix the problem. I ended up getting it towed to the dealer, but it was late at night by the time it got there.
They had it for six days (four business days). Finally contacted me and told me that nothing was wrong. I asked if it started, and they said it never didn't. Their Bolt expert told me that I should change the 12v if it happened again. They also said the battery tested fine (they tested it before keeping the car for diagnostics). They checked the battery connections and for trackers, etc. that may be draining the battery and everything looked fine. I don't have anything aftermarket installed.
Well, today (2 days later), I had the exact same problem again. Tried to jump it again. The jump box I bought told me that the battery was so low that I needed to use the boost. The car started when using the boost, but still had the red battery light on (other errors went away) and wouldn't let me shift. Then it stopped.
I pulled out the battery and took it to Costco. They tested it and it tested above spec. I went home and reinstalled the battery and now it started again.
Has anyone else had these problems? I can't wait another week for a diagnosis.
