I'm 22F and my best mate 23M after a party confessed to me he liked me and asked me on a date, I rejected him but told him I wanted to continue being friends like we had been for the past 7 years and he was totally agreeing with me. We left the conversation laughing and having a good time and it seemed to have been an ok conversation.
It's been like 3 weeks now and he leaves me on read all the time, he seems uninterested in playing games with me. He didn't invite me to his fucking birthday party, we see eachother and he acts all nonchalant. He seems interested in still hanging out and asks when I'm having people over next and stuff like that and sometimes he'll go back to normal but it seems like he's totally trying to cut me, like it's not like he doesn't talk to me anymore and he needs space it's just like he wants to be cold but still around. He's actively still trying to be my friend but in the least friendly way possible.
I've had this happen with guys so many times, and I'm not oblivious, I am NOT being flirty with these guys. I am not entertaining any flirting from their end. I don't understand where they get the balls to shoot their shot but then stop caring about me as a friend entirely once I reject them? Like I just want to give up on being friends with men entirely. It's just totally not worth it because it hurts when someone you cared about a lot as a friend has decided to cut you off or just be upset with you when you haven't done anything wrong.
