I haven't been formally diagnosed with VM And I’m not really sure whether I have it or not. I have an ENT appointment booked this month though.
Symptoms TDLR:
-moderately bad dull non-throbbing headache at the back of my head and nausea triggered by video games and movies/tv shows that slowly build up over the next day and peak at the 25-30 hour mark.
-My symptoms while playing video games/watching movies aren’t noticeable until about 3-4 hours later.
-No visual aura, and no/minimal dizziness/vertigo
-I’ve been having head tightness/mild headache if I drive more than 15 minutes.
-I’ve had painful throbbing migraines with visual aura twice before in 2017 and 2018 when I was in high school, but no migraine episodes since until this year. I also have issues with PWM-backlit screens.
I’ve been having issues with increased sensitivity to on-screen motion. It started when I got a new gaming monitor 4 months ago. After that, any time I played video games on any monitor I would have this bad dull headache and nausea that slowly developed over the next 30 hours and it would peak around the 25-30 hour mark and then go away the next day after I slept and woke up. Also sometimes after this I would get headaches/nausea each time I used a screen for the next week until I adjusted.
Now I’m having the same issues with tv shows/movies and even short videos. I watched this 3 minute CGI 3D animation short on YouTube and got a headache/nausea 4 hours later that was quite bad and I couldn’t fall asleep until I took an Advil.
It sucks cause playing video games and watching tv shows were my two favourite activities.
