ST605 stuck on slower shutter speeds - possible diagnosis?
Sup!
Just picked up this used st605, which is other wise fine BUT, on speeds 1/2s to 1/30s the shutter opens, and then stays open. On bulb and 1/60-1/700 it works fine.
I opened it up and identified at least part of the issue, I think.
When the blue gear finishes a rotation, the shutter closes. On faster speeds the red part hides away and the blue gear has no obstructions. On slower speeds though, the red part moves a bit depending on each speed, and during a shot, the blue gear hits it, and cannot complete a rotation (second image).
I think it was meant for the red part to move away instead of locking up. I can see some old grease on that brown screw.
Am I correct? I've been thinking to clean up that screw a bit, apply some vaseline and see what happens. But I've read that putting lube or cleaning it away in the wrong spots of a mechanical camera may be fatal.
Any tips, please? I would love to fix it myself, as I have no money right now, and will only get some after my exams. I would love to be able to run this camera during that time.
