I used to play a lot of Football Manager years ago (FM17 was the last one I really got into).

I bought FM24 but barely had time to play it (~20 hours), so realistically I've nearly gone 10 years without playing and I’m basically coming back as a returning/new player.

I can get FM26 free through Game Pass for PC and so I'm ready to jump back in.

From what I’ve seen on YouTube, the match engine looks like a big step forward, I’ve also seen very mixed reviews but I like to try make my own decision by giving the game a shot myself.

A few things I’d love to hear from you all:

  • Is there much of a learning curve nowadays?
  • Is it overwhelming to get started again after a long break?
  • Any tips for easing back into the game?
  • Anything important that’s changed in recent versions?

Plan is to use this game to get comfortable again before the next FM release.
