full timeline:

initially eSIM stopped working randomly, but physical SIM was fine. decided to reset the phone hoping it would fix it. after reset, both SIM and eSIM stopped working. shows IMEI normally.

no settings show up under cellular/mobile service section in settings. it does detect the carrier but only shows option to change label. toggling airplane mode, it tries to search but never connects. no issues with sim/esim. works on other phones.

also noticed another issue even before reset; iOS update would get stuck on “verifying update”. tried network reset, full reset, DFU restore.

a technician has suggested it’s an “IC issue”.

according to chatgpt (lol):
IMEI present = baseband not dead
Searching but not connecting = possibly antenna / RF path issue
But the progressive failure (eSIM → SIM → nothing) + update issues might point to deeper hardware?

has seen this exact pattern before on iphone 12? i’m hoping someone can pinpoint the exact issue so i can properly estimate how much it would cost and if it’s worth repairing. rn the technician has quoted about 25-30% of the phones market value.
