Hi, first time posting on reddit. I am 6 weeks pp, and have been exclusively breastfeeding the whole time. It has been going very well and babe has been gaining weight. I have seen a lot of suggestions to offer a bottle 3-4 times a week to avoid babe becoming a bottle refuser. I am very lucky and won’t be returning to work until they are 9 months. Ideally I would be EBF for a year, but I know shit happens. I am unsure about pumping enough for one bottle and what that schedule looks like.
I fed babe at 7am at the breast, pumped at 7:45am and got 3.5oz. They should be ready to eat again at 10am. Do I give them the bottle of pumped milk at 10am? Do I latch them on the breast to start to avoid engorgement and finish their feeding with the bottle?
I’m not necessarily looking for a freezer stash, just trying to get him use to a bottle in the event of emergencies etc. I also don’t really know if it’s important to do this? I’m a first time mom, so I honestly have no idea if this is even necessary. Any respectful advice is appreciated. Thank you <3
