I have grub problems in my soil that killed a three year old cherry tree. I was going to apply BioAdvanced pesticide with active ingredient of Lambda-cyhalothrin. Unfortunately, the company notified me that none of their pesticides is safe for use on fruit trees meant for consumption. I then researched Lambda-cyhalothrin and it turns out it's heavily used in agriculture. So I'm confused if it's safe to use or not?

Last year a gopher ate the roots of my three year old cherry tree and I had hope it will recover. The tree showed promise when it pushed new leaves in March. The tree showed no activity in April and the bark started wrinkling like before so I had feeling something was attacking the roots again. Unfortunately, it was fatal this time as I found 20 grubs in the root zone and severed the tree right at the root flare.
I'm thinking of applying BioAdvanced Grub Killer Plus with the active ingredient Trichlorfon. It's meant to be applied on lawns but I was wondering if it's safe to put around my fruit trees. Instructions says apply 2 lbs per 1000 sq ft. Since my trees are only 12 sq ft how does this translate in cups or tablespoons? Since I'll be sprinkling the pesticide manually, how far should the pellets be apart for proper dosage?
