Not looking for medical advice, just hoping someone who’s had something similar happen has thoughts to share!

28F 29yo in UK. My mum has severe OA in both knees so I’ve always been worried about developing it myself. and I’ve always had knees that audibly crack, sometimes with slight pain for years. The past 3-4 months my left knee has gotten significantly worse - it hurts at random times in the day standing up, sitting down and if I leave my legs straight for a while lying down it takes me a full couple of minutes to slowly pull my left knee up again because of the soreness. No swelling and definitely no injury that I know about.

I’ve been to my GP who dismissed it as a strain injury even though I said I’d like it scanned to check for arthritis, then private who recommended knee strengthening exercises but didn’t do any checks to see whether it could be arthritis as it’s apparently “unlikely at this age with this level of fitness”. I really just want to find out whether it is arthritis or not - what can I do/say to the doctors to make this happen?
