2006 Ford Ranger(it has the XLT too but idk if that helps) steering wheel locked while driving
Hi!! I’m really shook up right now about what just happened and I don’t know anything about cars but I need some help.
Okay to start off, I was getting my little sister off the bus and when I was going down my driveway(there’s a slight turn you have to make before you can pull into where you park)and I was going to turn and noticed that the steering wheel WOULD NOT MOVE and the battery and the oil lights on the dash were lit up. I was going slow and quickly braked, put it into park, shut the car off, and turned it back on and everything was fine.
Luckily didn‘t crash but I’m still super spooked bc what IF I was on the road and that happened ;-;;
A little context: my car also ”stutters” idk if that’s the word for it, before it turns on— sometimes it won’t turn on all the way while trying to start it and the battery and oil lights will light up while doing that. It hasn't been an issue because it’s only happened when it was parked but now it’s happened when driving and I got so scared. The truck is really special to me, it was my great-grandma‘s and she took good care of it and I don’t want to wreck it(and it’s my only car soooooooo).
