We put down daisy today.

We put down our 9 year old cat Daisy today.

My cat, Daisy, was a wonderful cat. She would greet you at the door, laying on her back. She would run to you whenever she felt she needed attention. A few weeks ago, when me and my parents came home, we realized that she had labored breathing and was very lethargic. We took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. The vet had to drain her of fluids before she could breathe normally again. They prescribed medication and we went home to give her it. However, even when being forced to take the medication (a nightmarish task), her condition only improved for a few days after she was drained, and a week and a half later, we took her into the vet to get put down. She was breathing heavily again and she had fluid buildup in her lung and heart cavity, and her heart was working overtime. We chose to euthanize her rather than put her through the potential pain of being paralyzed and being in intense pain. Being only 14, I have never experienced a pet dying before. Once the process began and they injected the solution that makes her tired, it felt as if she went to sleep. But what sort of traumatized me was when they injected the lethal substance into her, and she passed away. It only hit me she was really gone when I picked up her little head and it simply drooped back down. We left the vets office, and I took a tuft of her fur as a memory. I miss her so much already. I am worried about her brother Trey, since he would always look out for her. I miss you, Daisy.
