My husband found this picture and wants to replicate it. He learned how to crochet stuffies and then taught me. I have gone on to learn a lot of stitches and some wearables. So he is asking for my help in the stitch

I am thinking after the magic circle, do a row of Moss stitch to create the chevrons then waistcoat stitch in stripes? But I am happy for any input!
