Concerns about cancelling a policy
Hi, I just have a few questions, and they're probably stupid, but Id really appreciate some straight forward answers!
Helpful background info might be that my insurance is in TX, I have a clean driving record for 5+ years, and I've had my current insurance for about 2 years with no claims. This is my first experience with insurance and paying it myself.
I have a rly hard time comprehending fine print or legal details of the policy, so I am asking questions here, but I will also be reading my policy manual and talking to an agent.
I mainly want to leave the insurance due to the agents being snotty and pushy, so I don't trust the agents very much though.
My questions start with
How do I cancel my policy? Are there legal consequences to cancelling a policy before renewal, but immediately purchasing a different one? What penalties might I face with insurance if I try that?
For the money that I have paid, will I be entitled to any refund? I never had any claims or payouts, so does the company just get to pocket the money? That kinda hurts to think about lol
Are there any strong opinions for or against progressive? Or has anyone experienced an insurance company that is all around trustworthy and low rate?
Thank you!
