Follow-up to the post about pre-meds in research: how do you show you’re genuinely interested?
While I am a premed due to my desire to practice and learn medicine, I also really love (the idea of doing) research. I added that last part in there because I’ve had little opportunity to do so. I think an MD/PhD might even be an option for me, but it seems that the negative stereotype of premeds, which I totally get, has limited my opportunities. I just also think research is really cool and I’d be so privileged to be involved in it.
In the current research climate, it’s hard to find opportunities in general, let alone when I say I’m a premed. Is there any way grad students/PhD students can tell I’m actually interested beyond when I just say that I am and reading through their papers and all of that?
