I posted this as a reply in one of the LTT threads where the person asked for an example of why windows sucks and I am curious if anyone else has had this happen.
-Well one example I can give (for me anyway, and this is reproducible) is that I game on my PC and every time I try to play certain games (examples- Starfield, Atomic Heart, The Outer World 2, Robocop Rouge City, Stray, etc...) and this isn't all games but quite a few. The games crash to the desktop (not windows itself) after 10-30 minutes. I have watched everything from power, temps, and ram usage to trying to overclock, under Volt and running everything vanilla (stock) it always happens. I've reinstalled 10 and 11 several times with the same results. My PC isn't that bad 5600g 16gb 3200mhz RX7600 550w PSU and a B550 motherboard I should have no problems running these (and yes I have tried turning down settings in all the games to lowest and the problems still happens). I have since installed several Linux distros trying to find one that I like (CachyOs, PiKaOs, Pop!_OS, etc..) Finally ending at regular Fedora Linux (Gnome) and it didn't matter what distro I used but Linux Never crashes out the games. I don't know what is going on with windows but for me ever since about 2023-2024 it IS the worst thing I have ever used, the only distro I dislike because I have had nothing but trouble with it is Ubuntu and I would still take that over windows right now. At least with Ubuntu I know that I could fix it if I really wanted to and that cannot be said for Windows.
I recently tried to go back to windows to try the XBOX mode to see if it would solve my issues, *spoiler* it didn't. I just want a sanity check. I've done everything I could think of to get it to work Because there are some genuinely good things that windows does (very few BUT... there are and some games that I can't play on Linux that I want to play with my friends) and make sure it isn't my hardware to blame.
I can't be the only one this happens to, can I?
